Every year I like to celebrate the Olympics with themed snacks. I just love making things that will make my friends and family smile and get into the Olympic mood. The food must taste good, be easy to make (so that I don't miss a minute of the excitement), and of course resemble an Olympic sport.
This year I decided to make a fun layered dip topped with a curling end zone. I like to think that it might help the Canadian teams become victorious, but if not, I know it made my family smile. And since Yoplait is a proud supporter of Team Canada at this year's Olympics, I incorporated Yoplait into my recipe.
Read on for my recipe and also for a great giveaway to help you get decked out in style for this year's Olympic Games!
Curling Layered Dip - serves 8 (makes two dips pictured above)
1 can of refrained beans, I used Old El Paso
1 jar of salsa
1 avocado
1/2 cup of Yoplait yogurt, plain
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 teaspoon hot sauce
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 cup of grated cheese, mozzarella or cheddar
Rings of pepper, for the curling end zone
Sprigs of broccoli, for the brooms
Olives, for the rocks
Veggies, tortilla chips, or plantain chips, for dipping
1. Start by blending together the yogurt, avocado, hot sauce, and lime juice in a blender.
2. Next layer your dip. Start with a layer of retried beans. Next smooth on the avocado and Yoplait yogurt dip. Follow with a layer of salsa and a healthy sprinkle of cheese.
3. Top with rings of pepper for the curling end zone, olives for the rocks, and sprigs of broccoli for the brooms. Serve and enjoy!
