Getting Out of My Shell

Out of everyone in my family I have the toughest time getting out of my shell. It's not that I think being shy is the worst quality that I could have, it's just that I wish that I was more outgoing - especially at parties.

Outgoing people always seem to have the most fun at parties. They flit between groups, start up conversations with strangers, and end the night with piles of more friends. I just don't do that. I laugh with friends, enjoy the food and drinks, and wait for the more outgoing people to come up to me.

The only time I am in my element is when I am the host and I am serving my home cooked food. I can talk to anyone about what I cook and compliments about my food make me open up to everyone. Food helps me get out of my shell.

That's why today I am sharing a recipe to make with friends and family at a summer party. It's simple, fun, and will magically make even the shyest person in the room come out of their shell.

Magic Shell Chocolate Sauce

1 cup of chocolate chips (milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or whatever you fancy with ice cream)
2 tablespoons coconut oil (the secret to this sauce is the coconut oil because it's solid at room temperature and turns liquid as it warms up)

1. Combine chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwavable bowl. Microwave for 30 second periods, stirring in between, until chocolate is fully melted.

2. Let your sauce cool slightly and pour over top of your favourite ice cream. Then watch the magic happen as all of your sauce touching your ice cream hardens into a shell in mere seconds.

3. Pour any leftover sauce into a glass jar and keep on a shelf for future use. The coconut oil will solidify the sauce as it cools, but all you'll have to do is remove the lid and microwave the jar of sauce for about 30 second or so for the fun to start again!

And don't think the fun stops here! If you're feeling extra creative, try adding in a third ingredient for some extra flavour boosting. I suggest trying finely chopped mint or orange zest. Just stir a little of your choice of flavour boosting ingredient into your fully melted chocolate sauce before you pour it onto your ice cream and let your sauce speak volumes!
