Berry Delightful Cranberry Sauce #Molkosanberry

I love all Thansgivings, Canadian and American. But I don't love that heavy feeling of eating too much food after one of those huge family meals. And sometimes I think I could use a little extra help disgesting my meal and that's where Molkosan comes in.

Molkosan is made from milk from the Swiss Alps (but I promise it tastes like berries and not milk, beacause the fat, sugar, and protein was extracted and only the whey was left behind), and the lactic acid helps with digestion.

Using Molkosan Berry, I've made a new delicious Pomegranate Cranberry Sauce that would be perfect to help with digestion after a huge family meal, either full of turkey or tofu-key!

Beet Pesto

I love a good pesto on pasta, burgers, as a dip, or on veggies. I love it made from basil and pine nuts, sundried tomatoes, or really anything. I just love that it's a super flavourful and vibrant sauce.

Today's recipe takes vibrant to a new level. It's a sweet, rich, and über vibrant Beet Pesto and it's perfect for serving in place of any of your favourite pestos.

If this recipe reminds you of something else you've seen on my blog, it might be because it's really similar to my Alien Spaghetti I made for Halloween last year! But considering this recipe has cheese in it and is a little hardier, I like it even more!

Carrot Fever

Now that it's almost (gulp) October, I am doing my best to eat up all the veggies left in my garden. This means that all carrots I pulled and am featuring in today's recipe are a little bit less than perfect looking.

But looks say nothing of their taste! They taste fantastic! For this recipe, I merged together two of my favourite things, gingery carrots and my old favourite sauce for chicken or turkey. Now I know this sauce goes perfectly well with carrots so I think I will try it with tofu next!

Homemade Enchilada Sauce

I love Mexican food for the spicy, bright, and big flavours I always find in it. Fresh herbs, creamy avocados, bright veggies, citrus, and hot peppers make me smile. And I love that Mexican food always seems to be smothered in a flavourful sauce.

My mole sauce is one of my favourites and I'm planning on sharing my new recipe for guacamole soon, but today seems like a good day to share my recipe for enchilada sauce. It's rich with tomatoes and spice, delicious on enchiladas, and too easy to ever to search the shelves for ever again.

Bananas For Breakfast

There is nothing I love more than a leisurely long weekend breakfast. I love throwing a big breakfast for friends and enjoying one with my sweetie in our pjs. If you asked me to choose which I loved more, I don't think I could do it.

For BC Day this year, I made one of my most simple pancake recipes and topped it with a truly decadent sauce. It's a little reminiscent of bananas foster, but or so simple and perfect for a leisurely long weekend breakfast.

Flavour Explosion

Whenever I bite into a tart dessert, I feel happy. Lemon, lime and rhubarb are pretty much heaven to me. I just love the feeling of wanting more and light, bright, tart, fresh flavours always seem to make me want more.

This summer I've made a lot of rhubarb desserts, but this time I wanted something a little extra rhubarby. I wanted a rhubarb cake with a rhubarb sauce. I wanted it all. And since I had plenty of rhubarb, I could it all to myself as a little treat.

Sex Tape and a Giveaway #BedroomSpice

One of my favourite kind of dates is watching a movie with my sweetie. I love snuggling up on the sofa with snacks and laughing along as a great movie plays and I am always on the lookout for what to watch next.

On July 18, 2014 Sony is releasing what looks to be a seriously funny movie, Sex Tape. Just watch the trailer to see what I mean! In the movie, the two main characters try to spice up their relationship by making a "romantic" video and that video somehow gets uploaded to the Cloud and gets shown to all their family and friends... I can't even imagine that happening!

Luckily the ways I keep the magic alive are a little more tame. I love packing a picnic full of my sweetie's favourite foods and taking it somewhere romantic. Or spending the weekend hiking and camping in a tiny little tent. And if we just snuggle up on the sofa with a new movie, making a Spicy Chocolate Sauce for ice cream sundaes with a movie never hurts. I always serve mine with cinnamon flavoured kiss jujubes too!

Raw Cashew Love

As you might reminder, I told myself that I'd try a new food each month of 2014. I've done well so far and don't plan on giving up. So this month's new food is raw cashews.

Raw cashews are something you wouldn't want to snack on because they aren't roasted and salted into the cashews we typically know and love. But raw cashews are truly perfect for making a cheese-less cheese sauce and that's something worth talking about.

I learned about raw cashews and vegan cheese sauce from the Oh She Glows blog and cookbook and knew that I had to give them a try. I love cheese but scrubbing a pot from a cheese sauce is tiring and there's only so much cheese a girl should eat.

My recipe is inspired by Oh She Glow's Smoky Butternut Squash Sauce with Pasta and Greens, but I think the "secret" ingredients I added takes the sauce up another few notches. But you should try both recipes to know for sure.

Falafel Fun

January is always a month where I take a trip down the memory lane of all the delicious cookies, desserts, cheese plates, and other holiday food I ate last month. Every year I swear that Christmas will be different the next year and I won't need to pull out my "fat pants" in Janaury, but every year the same old delicious goodies find their way into my mouth.

But this year I'm not making the same false promises. This year I am just trying my best to eat healthy in January and hoping that eating this way will carry me through the year so I can justify eating whatever I want during the holidays.

The dish I am sharing today is a baked falafel. It's truly easy to make, delicious, and goes perfectly with an abundance of salads like Life Made Delicious'  Fresh Tomato and Cucumber Salad or Spicy Jicama and Orange Salad. In fact, the next time I make these falafel, I might serve them on top of one of these salads instead of in a wrap!

Three Cheers for Paneer!

I love Indian food, but I often seem to get it wrong when I try making it at home. Sure, of course I can pour a bottle of ready made sauce into a pan and we all lick our lips with anticipation of the yummy smells coming from the kitchen. But when it comes to making an Indian dish from scratch, I don't always get it right.

But today I finally did it. I finally made a from scratch Indian dish taste like it was in an Indian restaurant. And since it's one of my favourite Indian dishes, I am pleased as punch.

Palak Paneer has creamy little pillows of paneer, a delicious Indian cheese, floating around in an onion and spinach sauce flavoured with spices that Indian dishes are famous for. It might not be as spicy as some of the other dishes from India, but that's all right with me.

Read on for the recipe, it's easier to make than you might think!

The New Bolognese

I used to love a rich and hearty Bolognese sauce. I loved smelling it simmering on the stove and anticipating how comforting and delicious it would taste. And I thought that love affair was over when I stopped eating meat. Thankfully I was wrong.

I just discovered this amazing recipe for a lentil Bolognese that is relatively quick to prepare and tastes just as good, if not better, than other beefy recipes I use to make. It was always slow cooking the veggies in the sauce that gave the best flavour, so I really shouldn't have been so surprised.

The craziest part of this successful recipe is that I never thought I'd like lentils paired with pasta, I thought that any recipe that paired the two would be far too heavy. But I was again proven wrong, lentils and pasta are a match made in heaven.

Don't believe me? Read on for the yummy recipe inspired by one from Clean Eating magazine.

Easy Clean Up

While I love cooking, I hate cleaning up the kitchen. Usually my sweetie does the cleaning up and that's always a happy moment for me, but sometimes I do all the cleaning up too. Those nights I plan to cook something with as few dishes as possible.

This recipe is one I've seen on Pinterest and I took the idea and ran with it. It was too perfect for nights where I was cooking and cleaning up because there are only a couple dishes to do and it's delicious to boot!

Read on for my yummy Spaghetti Squash Alfredo, served in its own shell!

Perfect Fall Pasta

As much as I don't want to admit it, it's September now and that means the first day of fall is near. But this year, instead of getting annoyed that summer is almost over, I'm going to embrace fall's delicious flavours and dive into some new comfort food.

Today's dish may look underwhelming at first, but when you taste it you will find that it's packed with roasted veggie flavour!  The sauce is made from tons of roasted veggies that get puréed into a heavenly smelling and tasting concoction. I topped mine with sliced almonds for a little extra crunch and thought each bite was perfect.

Now, just to be clear, I'm not saying I'm ready for cold weather, but I am ready for cold weather food! So cold weather, you stay away for just a little while longer, ok?

Banana Curry

When I go to a restaurant and I see a dish on the menu that I feel inspired to try to make at home, I know it's been a good night. The last thing I want in a restaurant is a boring menu filled with uninspiring things. Steak and potatoes or salmon with rice, all served with seasonal veggies, is nice - but I want to be excited by a meal.

When I saw a dish of banana curry with mussels on a menu recently, I knew I was in for a treat. I love curry and I love bananas. Plus I could see how that dish could work. I always use something sweet in my curries to counterbalance the spicy tart flavours of my dishes.

I was also really excited to have a new dish to try when I had a few overripe bananas. I love banana bread but everyone needs a break from the ordinary! Read on for my Banana Curry recipe!

Peameal Pileups

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday and since she is vacationing overseas, I only get to send her well wishes over the Internet today. And this year, instead of coming coming up with a dish that I think my mom would love, I decided to share one of her dishes with you.

My mom loves peameal bacon and she loves to BBQ, so it only makes sense that this sandwich is one of her favourites. It has grilled peameal or turkey bacon, fried zucchini, melty cheese, sweet peppers, and a really flavourful tomato marmalade. I have a feeling that you're going to want to eat one of these sandwiches as soon as you see the photo.

Happy Birthday, Mom! Thanks for sharing such a yummy recipe!

Caprese Portobello Burgers

I love a good Caprese salad - mozzarella, tomato, and basil are a great combination. However, I also love to get creative in the kitchen and making a Caprese salad night after night is not very creative. So when I learned a new recipe for a homemade basil mayonnaise, I couldn't resist making a play on one of my favourite salads by turning it into a sandwich.

The basil mayonnaise turned out so delicious and the mushrooms were a perfect vessel for a warm tomato and cheese mixture that I know I'll be making this dish again and again.

President Obama's Favourite Salmon

This recipe is adapted from Art Smith's Healthy Comfort and as Art and the President are neighbours in Chicago, he should know what President Obama's favourite salmon dish is.

I don't know why I thought I should make this dish my own, but I did. I decided that despite the original version being President Obama's favourite, I wanted my version to have a little more honey, a little more ginger, and a lot more sesame seeds. I am sure the original version tastes great, but I wonder what President Obama would say if he tried my sauce?

Christmas Curry

Today is halfway to my favourite time of the year, Christmas, so it's only fitting for me to make a Christmasy curry. But before you start thinking about how I might be using pine needles, cinnamon, or sugar plums, let me tell you that I used perfectly normal and delicious curry ingredients - I just made my dish extra special with thoughts of Christmas in mind.

First off, I made my curry reflect the colours of Christmas by making a red curry sauce with plenty of fresh green broccoli and basil. And secondly, I decorated my curry with one of my favourite heirloom potatoes - the Warba New Nugget. I like to think of the Warba New Nuggets as little glass balls decorating my bowl because they're round, sweet as can be, and are even speckled with a decoration of pink eyes.

You might be surprised at my use of potatoes in a curry because curries are usually paired with another starch, but potatoes are actually frequently used in curries and after one bite of this recipe I know you will never think twice about using a Warba New Nugget in your curry again!

Stop and Smell the Roses

Today was my Nana's birthday and I wanted to make something special in her memory. She loved flowers and I had some lovely fresh strawberries in my fridge so I knew right away that I wanted to make some pretty strawberry rose tartlets.

The question I had was what to fill my tarts with. When I went out to my garden and saw that I still had some rhubarb, I knew I would make a strawberry-rhubarb curd. I had a recipe for it that I had been meaning to try and I knew that this curd and strawberry tartlets would make a perfect pairing.

I think I was right. Read on for my recipe to decide if you agree or not!

Dinner's a Wrap

I used to think that tacos should never have fish in them and should always have lots of cheese. That's all in the past now because today's post is a taco that has no cheese and lots of fish!

I was inspired by a recipe in Canadian Living magazine to make dish, but my recipe is slightly simplified and I didn't think my fish needed breading to be a success.

I was so in love with this easy dish that I made it twice in two weeks! It was that yummy!
